A homeowner from Princeton, MN reached out to DBS looking for help with their damp crawl space. One of our Design Specialists went to the home to run a free no-obligation estimate appointment. After a thorough inspection, our Design Specialist provided the homeowner with a free quote for our Crawl Space Waterproofing Service. One of our crews installed our waterproofing products in the crawl space to thoroughly waterproof the area and give peace of mind for the homeowner.

This Grand Marais, MN home was purchased for the purpose of renovation and renting. The owner was in the process of fixing up the house but needed help encapsulating the crawl space in order to fix any smell, moisture, and heating issues that were affecting the home. 

Design Specialist Emily Haala assisted the homeowner in a free, no-obligation estimate in order to find the best solutions for the crawl space encapsulation. After a careful inspection, Emily recommended a full crawl space encapsulation with SprayFoam insulation, TerraBlock™, and CleanSpace®.

Foreman Nicholas Woods II led a team in the installation of this project. Together, the team started by using SprayFoam insulation on the walls to air seal any unwanted holes or cracks that were allowing large amounts of airflow into the space. Following that, they used TerraBlock™ insulation on the ground to prevent any coldness or moisture from rising into the home. Finally, they used CleanSpace® to create a clean finish and to transform the space into a safe storage area. 

This home will no longer be affected by the crawl space issues it faced before, and can now continue to be renovated and rented out. 

These homeowners from Cloquet, MN reached out to DBS for help preventing pipes from freezing in their Crawl Space.  

DBS Design Specialist Henry Jungbauer went to the home and provided a free, no-obligation estimate for the work. After inspecting the Crawl Space, Henry recommended applying closed-cell spray foam insulation to the cinder block foundation under the home. Closed-cell spray foam is a permanent solution for stopping outdoor air from entering a home and works great in Crawl Spaces like this one. This home is now protected from outdoor air and is protected against pipes freezing during cold winter months. 

The owners at this home in Cloquet, MN experienced issues with ice dams forming on their roof. This was caused by improper insulation of their attic leading to melted snow on the roof which then froze forming ice dams. Hoping to find a more effective and efficient way to insulate their home, the owners called DBS.

Design Specialist Austin Burley visited the home to conduct a free no-obligation estimate. After completing a thorough inspection, he informed the owners of DBS's attic insulation process which consists of sealing all crevices and holes with ZypFoam™ insulation and filling the attic with 17 inches of Tru-Soft™ cellulose blown insulation.

Foreman Nick Woods led the installation of this project and with the help of a team, sealed all of the spaces where warm air was able to leak into the attic with ZypFoam™. Then they covered the attic floor with Tru-Soft™ cellulose blown insulation to properly insulate the attic and sealed the staircase entrance with SilverGlo™-- innovative insulation with a built-in vapor barrier to prevent warm air from leaking through. Now that the attic of this Cloquet, MN home has been properly insulated, it will stay warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer without ever having to replace any doors or windows.

The homeowners can now relax more comfortably in their homes all year round and not worry about ice dams ruining their roofing and gutters.

Before, this Cloquet apartment building struggled with uneven temperatures, relying heavily on air conditioning year-round due to heat escaping from pipes, as the before photo reveals.
