These homeowners in Two Harbors, MN were experiencing multiple problems in their home's crawl space. Moisture was creating a musty smell, animals were getting in, and the space was cold, which in turn caused the home to be cold as well. They needed a professional and permanent solution, so they trusted DBS with the project.
Design Specialist Zach Guilliams assisted the homeowners in a free, no-obligation estimate in order to find the perfect solution for their home. After a careful inspection, Zach suggested the homeowners encapsulate their crawl space to diminish the issues they were experiencing.
Foreman Raeshawn Pelfrey led the installation of this project along with a team. The team started by installing draining matting to help standing pools of the water drain out effectively. This was accompanied by our SmartDrain® System that will remove the water from the crawl space. The team then installed CleanSpace® Vapor Barrier to create a dry, clean finish. SprayFoam insulation will also be installed on the walls in order to keep the space warm and provide an extra moisture barrier.
Once the crew installs the SprayFoam insulation on the walls, this crawl space will be in pristine condition for the homeowners.

This Duluth, MN homeowner called DBS to set up a free, no-obligation estimate for her crawl space concerns. Her home had started to show signs that something was going wrong under her home. She noticed that her floors started to sag, as well as excess moisture in her living spaces. Design Specialist, Henrik Makitalo visited this home and upon his inspection concluded that the home should have the crawl space encapsulated as well as the use of our patented SmartJacks to stabilize the home's sagging support beams. Foreman, Kevin Steffy and his crew were tasked with the installation of SmartJacks and our CleanSpace crawlspace encapsulation material. They were able to achieve the desired results, and the homeowner was happy with the results.
This time of year, when snow starts to melt and grounds become soaked with excess water, basement flooding can be a common problem among households. In Duluth, MN, a homeowner in the Park Point area was experiencing just this. Park Point is a hot spot for basement flooding, being right on the shores of Lake Superior. Fortunately, they reached out to DBS and a crew was able to provide a specially designed waterproofing service for Park Point homes. This included the installation of a sump pump, WaterGuard®, and the placement of dimple drainage matting. To top it off, 4 inches of fresh new concrete was poured along the basement floor to elevate the surface. The overall results turned out great, and the photos from the project can be viewed here.
