When the crawl space is not isolated from the house and the soil of the area where the house is located is filled with water, the water vapor emerges and humidifies much of the crawl space air.
The best thing to do in order to solve this problem is to contact experts such as our company and encapsulate the whole area.
The process used in this crawl space in Saint-Jacques-Le-Majeur is composed from a CleanSpace liner to lock out any moisture coming in, a SmartDrain to collect water both from plumbing leaks in the home as well as sudden groundwater problems beneath the liner, and SaniDry Cx dehumidifier which is a self-draining system that eliminates the chore of emptying collection trays, while an air filter eliminates particles from the air as small as 2 microns!
PROBLEM
Our client, living in Disraeli, was having problems with his crawl space. In fact, his house is located on the edge of a lake. Thus he had difficulty heating his crawl space. In addition, there was excess humidity, which damaged the air quality in the house.
Our customer visited our website and filled out the form for a free inspection. Our specialist Alain entered the crawlspace for a detailed inspection. He directly noticed the excess humidity through the efflorescence stains on the walls. In addition, there was a bad smell. Alain explained to our client that the solution lies in the encapsulation of the crawlspace, indicating that a crawlspace in such state is very harmful for the house's residents, and on the other hand, it could cause structural damage in the near future.
SOLUTION
The encapsulation of the crawl space consists of installing our CleanSpace system, including two types of covering on the floor: The first drainage membrane equipped with "honeycomb" spaces to be able to retain infiltrated water, and the second membrane will act as a vapor barrier for not allowing moisture to spread.
Additionally, our revolutionary SilverGlo thermal insulation is installed on crawlspace walls to prevent air from escaping, and subsequently losing temperature.
Finally, our SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier is installed as an additional tool to control humidity.
Problem
- Bad odors were spreading from the crawlspace.
- Excessive moisture had led to the formation of mold spots, making the air unhealthy.
- The existing pump was not in a sump pit, and struggled to remove infiltrated water.
Solution
- Installation of the SmartSump system: We dug into the ground to install the pump system's receptacle. In addition to the powerful Zoeller pump, the SmartSump system includes a lid and a sealed drain, as well as an alarm to warn in case of potential flooding danger.
- Implementing our perimeter drainage, along with our CleanSpace vapor barrier on top: The perimeter drainage has an alveolus surface that helps transporting infiltrated water to the sump pump. Furthermore, our vapor barrier prevents water from evaporating into the air and inhibits mold growth.
- Installing the SilverGlo thermal insulation on the crawl space walls. It has a radiant barrier that reflects heat inside the crawl space for energy savings.
The resident of this house in Quebec City suffered from a very high level of humidity, caused by a non-isolated Crawl Space.
Mrs. Malerie noticed also that the floor was sagging which caused her a deep concern.
As you can see in this picture, we have totally encapsulated the Crawl Space and the foundation.
Our client Mrs. Annie had a problem with insulating the crawl space of her and contacted us in order to help her find the best solution with the minimum cost.
Our specialist went to our client’s house to provide the best solution with a free estimate. To insulate the crawl space, we used our patented CleanSpace technology and a Drainage mat to cover the dirt. SilverGlo to insulate the foundation walls and a SmartSump drainage system with an IceGuard drain to evacuate water that can accumulate in the crawl space.
Our client now enjoys an isolated crawl space that does not cause problems.
