Our client from Saint-Urban-Premier called us regarding his damp crawl space.
This crawl space was so damp; the main beam was so wet and rotting so badly and became so loose due to moisture presence. It also had large mold growing all over it.
We knew right away that his place needs to be stabilized, so we suggested installing our SmartJack system which is a high-capacity, fully-adjustable steel pier, designed to stop settling and can raise your sagging floor back to the proper level.
In addition we suggested the installation of our CleanSpace vapor barrier that prevent moisture elevation and mold growth.
After the installation, this crawl space couldn’t be healthier and our client was very satisfied with the results.
PROBLEM
There were water infiltrations from the damp ground, which facilitated the appearance of several mold stains. Our specialist Jennifer took care of the visit. By descending into the crawlspace, she identified excessive moisture, causing an unpleasant odor. Subsequently, she elaborated in detail on the solution, which consists of encapsulating the crawlspace to eliminate harmful moisture and prevent further structural damage that could even affect the foundation of the house.
SOLUTION
The encapsulation of the crawlspace consists of covering the floor with a drainage membrane and a vapor barrier above:
The drainage matting features a dimpled surface that helps channel infiltrated water towards the drainage or sump pump.
The vapor barrier prevents the evaporation of infiltrated water, thus eliminating excessive moisture. It also includes an antimicrobial additive to prevent mold growth.
To ensure proper thermal insulation of the crawl space walls, we installed SilverGlo wall insulation panels. In addition to resisting thermal conduction, the SilverGlo panels have a radiant barrier that reflects heat back into the crawl space for energy savings.
We installed our SmartSump sump pump system with the powerful Zoeller pump and the WaterWatch alarm, which helps prevent disasters.
Having a house by the water is nice. But when water and water vapors affect the humidity of the house, it is less pleasant. For this reason, this owner has contacted us so we can meet him with one of our certified specialists in basement waterproofing and crawl space encapsulation. So we sent Jerry who has been working with us for a long time. Jerry noticed that there was no damage and that it would be enough to encapsulate this void.
Our foreman Jonathan and his team began by removing all the debris from the crawlspace. Then, they installed a drainage mat and encapsulated the vacuum with the CleanSpace vapors barrier membrane. This product is the most effective on the market. It is composed of 7 layers and is therefore extremely resistant. An antibacterial additive is injected in to block the growth of mold. This product is specially designed for the basement environment and we are very proud of it. This client can now use the crawl space for useful purposes.
Because the crawl space is a below-grade space under the house, you might think it’s normal to have a moisty crawl space. After all, the ground gets wet and dries throughout the seasons and with weather patterns event.
So when our client who owns a house in Hemmingford started suffering from moisture in her house, she contacted us asking for some recommendations.
We went to her house, and encapsulated her crawl space by installing our most efficient products in the market: A Cleanspace Liner to block water vapor, a SmartDrain to collect water seepage which is designed specifically for crawl spaces and a Sanidry Cx to keep the air dry.
The SaniDry Cx dehumidifier is a powerful system that is appropriate for the basement and crawl space environment alike, and is able to remove up to 109 Pints of water daily.
This crawl space in Hemmingford was not insulated and there was a lot of water leakage and humidity in the area, which was leading to rot and decay that, might eventually weaken structural members and make major architectural repairs necessary.
When we went to check this area, our specialist, therefore, recommended a complete solution to waterproof, isolate, and encapsulate the place.
As a start, we have installed a SmartDrain to collect run-off water at this location and evacuate to the sump pump.
Then we encapsulated the crawl space with the CleanSpace membrane which a vapor barrier and contains an antibacterial additive that prevents the proliferation of bacteria and molds.
And finally, we have installed our SaniDry Cx dehumidifier. This innovative system is small enough to fit into most crawl spaces, while its powerful blowing motor and efficient design allow it to effectively dry a basement.
