Making a Basement Warmer and Less Damp with a New Window in Pittsfield, MA

This homeowner in Pittsfield, MA called us out to their home to take a look at their old basement window. They knew that it was not an efficient window, and that they were losing a lot of air from their home. We got to the home and performed our Full Home Energy Evaluation to better assess the efficiency in this home. We noticed the basement window they currently had was an old single pane glass window with a metal frame, which lets in a lot of air into the home. This also gets a lot of air escape from the home by conduction through the cold glass. The window had also started rusting due to the damp environment near the ground. Since the home has low pressure at the bottom and sucks cold outside air into your home it causes a freezing cold basement and cold floors. We knew that we needed to replace this old window to increase the efficiency and comfort in this home.

To fix this window, we need to first remove the old window sashes. We install our Everlast basement window inserts and seal it airtight. Our Everlast windows feature two panes of high performance glass, which lets visible light through, but blocks the heat flow with a special metallic coating in the inside of both panes. The sash features a vinyl frame which is perfect for the damp environment of the window near the ground. This window will never rust, rot or need to be repainted. This homeowner now has a beautiful, efficient basement window thanks to Dr. Energy Saver by Eco Energy Solutions!!!

Upgrading Attic Insulation in Pittsfield, MA

This homeowner in Pittsfield, MA called us out to their home for an estimate on updating their attic insulation. This home had very inefficient fiberglass insulation without air any sealing in their attic. This can result in major heat and air loss, high heating and cooling bills, and more!

We first removed all of the old, fiberglass insulation and properly disposed of the materials. Next, we seal up all top plates, end plates, and any areas where air can escape from the home into the attic and be lost with foam. Finally, we blow our TruSoft Cellulose insulation into the attic. Cellulose will fill in any odd-shaped voids and gaps. Now, thanks to Dr. Energy Saver by Eco Energy Solutions, this homeowner is happier, will be warmer, and is living more energy efficient!

Reducing Ice Dams and Making a Home More Comfortable in Pittsfield, MA

This Homeowner Called us out to her home to update their attic insulation. They were experiencing ice damming on the roof. Some spots were too hot and others were too cold. This home was insulated with old fiberglass insulation.

We removed the old inefficient fiberglass insulation in the attic. We install our blocks of Silverglo foam insulation board between the ceiling joist bays, and under the rafters. We air seal around the blocks with foam. Air is no longer able to enter and escape out of the home.

Thanks to Dr. Energy Saver by Eco Energy Solutions this home is more comfortable, energy- efficient, and no longer has snow melt!

Attic Insulation in Pittsfield, MA

In order to make this home more comfortable, Fogarty's Home Services had to perform numerous tasks. First, remove the insulation from the attic and vacuum it. It was unpleasant but necessary to remove the damaged, soiled insulation from the homeowners' attic. This step allows the attic to be properly air-sealed before installing our clean, fresh, high-quality Trusoft cellulose insulation. The SilverGlo foam insulation panel was used to air-seal and insulate the scuttle cover. During the summer, the radiant barrier on top will reflect heat from the attic. A scuttle cover that is insulated makes your home easier to heat, thereby reducing your utility bills. By replacing the ineffective bath fan with a Broan Ultra Pro Fan, we were able to prevent mold growth, excessive moisture, and lingering odors. You'll save money on your electric bills with this fan as it's incredibly quiet, keeps your room dry, and improves the air quality in your home. An air-sealing chimney wrap is required to properly seal the chimney in the attic. It's probably a mystery to you what a chimney wrap is. The chimney wrap eliminates all gaps in the insulation around your chimney and seals one of your home's biggest air leaks. As soon as we complete the above installations, we can install TruSoft Cellulose insulation in the attic to keep it from getting burned, moldy, or attracting pests. The blown insulation fills all gaps and odd shapes, and it prevents thermal bridging by covering framing members. This is how we fixed the uncomfortable house by making it less drafty and lowering fuel and electric bills.
