Our customer who lives in SouthWest, Montreal continually suffered from problems caused by the crawl space under the house.
Moisture, cold floors, musty smells, and floors that squeak finally pushed the owners to call us in order to encapsulate this space under her house.
Our specialist recommended installing the CleanSpace encapsulation membrane to cut moisture and reduce mold, as well as the wall panels Silverglo to insulate the exposed parts of the foundation wall. The difference is evident in the pictures you see here...
The resident of this house in SouthWest, Montreal suffered from a very high level of humidity, caused by a non-isolated crawl space.
Mr. Dany noticed also that the floor was sagging which caused her a deep concern.
As you can see in this picture, we have totally encapsulated the crawl space and the foundation
When the Crawl Space is not encapsulated, the cold, moist air from the floor spreads around the house, transferring all the bad odors that are unpleasant for locals.
We went to this client house in SouthWest and we completely isolated his Crawl Space with our CleanSpace membrane and our SmartJack support Pillars.
Our client's house had cracks that were starting to appear. Despite several renovations, the cracks kept coming back. The cause of the problem was due to sagging of the foundations. In order to solve the problem definitively, our specialist proposed the installation of 12 SmartJacks in the crawl space of the house in order to support and raise the floor of the house.
Thanks to these solutions, our client enjoys a house with repaired foundations and a well-supported floor.
Problem:
Ms. Léger's house is cracked in several places:
- Cracks at the corners of the interior door frames
- Cracks in the foundation
- 1 '' wide horizontal crack on exterior brick wall
- Nearly 2 '' wide vertical crack on the corner of an exterior foundation wall.
- Floor of the second floor is no longer level
The cause of these problems is the sagging foundation of the house. When the foundation sags, cracks on the foundation and walls are created, it can also have a detachment of part of the foundation from the rest of the house.
The solution
Install PushPiers hydraulic pillars under the footing of the house. They can straighten the house slightly, and the weight of the house is supported solidly. Then, some cracks in the foundation were sealed using our FlexiSpan solution. It is a high viscosity polyurethane polymer. The sealant penetrates deeply into the crack to form a flexible and durable seal. CarbonArmor strips were laid on the corner of an exterior foundation wall to reinforce it as it began to pull away from the house. Finally, in order to straighten the main floor and support it, our SmartJack beams were laid.
With these solutions, Mrs. Léger has nothing more to fear as the foundation of her house is supported solidly and the cracks are sealed.
* Note that the "after" photo was taken before the crack was sealed.
